- Friday April 29 Yizkor: lease join us on Friday April 29 for Yizkor and a post Passover Shabbat Service and Dinner. Traditionally, Yizkor, a special memorial prayer for those who have died is recited in the synagogue 4 times a year. One of these important memorial times is on Passover. This year, since the final day of Pesach is a Friday, we will have a Yizkor service beginning at 6:15 in the evening before sundown.
According to the biblical text we are to observe Passover for 7 days, although some in more traditional communities observe for 8. Yizkor is offered on the final day. When the sun goes down and it is officially Shabbat, Passover will have ended according to Biblical sources and Reform practice.
After our Shabbat service, after sundown at around 7:30 those who would like to join, will have the opportunity to break Passover together with three taste treats which are not allowed during the Passover holiday. Please RSVP if you would like to join our (un)traditional Shabbat dinner featuring challah, pizza and BYO Beer. Pizza will be $10 per family. RSVP to Diana at firstname.lastname@example.org if you will be joining us for dinner so we can order enough food.
