Our New Home

After more than 2 years of Planning, Beth Chaim's synagogue building is a reality.

Building Entrance

Beth Chaim was started by a small group of families seeking to celebrate Reform Judaism. From the original group of twelve families, we have grown to more than 160 families. We have taken the next step in our growth with the completion of our new building.

Location

Site Plan

With this growing membership, the time had come time to build a permanent home. We purchased a 6.8 acre property on which to build a building. The property, which is located in Malvern, is close to Route 202 and Route 401 and is easily accessible to most of the congregation. Groundbreaking on the new facility took place on September 17, 2006, with occupancy estimated in mid 2007.

Building

Sanctuary View

We are building our new home in two phases, to make it affordable. The first phase includes a sanctuary with 200 movable seats and a multipurpose social hall that can seat approximately 200. A movable partition enables us to expand the sanctuary to seat up to 400 people by adding rows of seats in the social hall. This flexibility will enable us to host High Holiday Services and large events. There is also be a catering kitchen, a conference room/library, offices for the Rabbi and administrative personnel, core facilities, and a Judaica shop. The site provides parking for 165 cars with overflow parking provided via an off-site arrangement with Great Valley High School just around the corner.

In the second phase, the social hall will be expanded and classrooms will be built above the social hall extension and a chapel will be added. Building our home one phase at a time will allow us to build what we can afford and enjoy occupying it, while raising the necessary funds for the second phase.

The building will also meet another important need in the community. Haym Solomon, the only Jewish burial ground in Chester County, is located around the corner from our property. Their site does not have a chapel or other indoor gather space. By arrangement with Haym Solomon our building will provide chapel and gathering space for families.
