RELIGIOUS SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The mission of the Beth Chaim Reform Congregation Religious Education Committee is to provide support and assistance to the Director of Religious Education (Rabbi Hollander) in all aspects of education and social functions relating to the Religious School.

The Beth Chaim Reform Congregation Religious School offers a rich educational experience coupled with fun and exciting activities for our youngest congregants (Grades K-7).  The Director of Religious Education (Rabbi Hollander) and the school’s wonderful teachers take care of the curriculum and in-class instruction.  Everything else—including Registration, Snack, Classroom Onegs at Shabbat Services, school trips and extra-curricular gatherings, and numerous Holiday-related activities and celebrations for the children (including the Chanukah Party, Purim Carnival, Israeli Independence Day Celebration, Passover Chocolate Seder and Tu B’shvat Celebration)—is staffed, planned, and executed by the Religious Education Committee and volunteers.  Without the Committee’s efforts (and those of the many volunteers stepping up to assist the Committee) this important aspect of the Religious School experience would be absent.

In addition to assisting with existing school operations, the Committee is uniquely positioned to evaluate curriculum- and administration-related issues and to develop recommendations for improvement and change, to create new events and activities for the children, to serve as an intermediary with parents, and to represent the interests of the Religious School in internal (e.g., the Board of Directors) and external (e.g., other synagogues) forums.

The Committee’s role in shaping and enriching the Religious School experience is limited only by the imagination and dedication of the Committee members and Committee leadership.  Committee members can take on as little or as much as they choose.  Participation will be rewarding both for the children enrolled in the Religious School and for the Committee members who can feel personal pride and satisfaction for helping to create and maintain one of the best Religious Schools around!

We invite you to become a member of the Beth Chaim Reform Congregation Religious Education Committee for the 2011-12 school year and join us in making our school the best that it can be.
