Social Justice

Social Justice & Activism

Social Justice at Beth Chaim is grounded in, and guided by Jewish values from Torah and Jewish Social Justice Teachings.

It is not political, but a moral fulfillment of Brit Olam, our covenant with the world. Our goals are two-fold:

  • Repairing the world as we better ourselves with an honest look in the mirror

  • Challenging the things we think we know about the world.

Recognizing that the problems are vast and sometimes intimidating, we focus on the power we have to repair what we can within our own three feet of influence.

BCRC has taken a stand and always promises to…

  • Act in solidarity with vulnerable communities

  • Build relationships across lines of difference in our local community

  • Act at the local, state, and federal levels to address the root causes of injustice through advocacy and community organizing

  • Foster a culture of sacred and civil dialogue in our congregation where all opinions are heard
